Who will win the IPL 2020?
Welcoming you on newsvstech.
In this article I will place the teams form position 8 to 1.
Ben Stokes – The Englishman will be the key for Rajasthan IPL if RR needs to get to the top 4 they need him to perform with both bat and ball since Jofra Archer is a doubt this season. In the series against South Africa, he has had an okayish series with scoring just 73 runs and 4 wickets combined in 3 T20s.
Oshane Thomas – Another key player for them is Oshane Thomas with Jofra Archer in doubt a huge burden falls over Oshane who is quite good at death overs, he had a great series against Sri Lanka where he took a 5 wicket haul in one of the matches.
A good overseas squad with descent backup options.
A solid all round (Stokes, Curran and Gopal) core which can win them some matches.
They have a experienced captain in Steve Smith who will be eyeing for his first IPL Glory.
‘No Jofra No Threat’ RR have been unfortunate to miss out Jofra to an elbow injury without him their bowling looks quite weak.
No Strong Indian core with the likes of Sanju Samson and Robin Uthappa they do not have much depth in both batting and bowling, it will be interesting to see if Unadkat plays well this season.
Outcome– They will probably end up being last
Kings Xl Punjab
KL Rahul – I think a lot depends on how KL Rahul performs this season some reports say that he will be Punjab’s captain this year which comes with atmost pressure, I think they should elect someone like Maxwell as captain and let Rahul do his batting without any pressure. Rahul is currently in good shape and form and I will not be surprised if he gets the orange cap this year.
Glenn Maxwell – The presence of Maxwell lights up the IPL, However his moto is quite simple to go big or go home I say this because he averages just 22.09 in IPL and has 91 sixes! But If he keeps on clicking for Punjab then they may not need to worry about chasing high scores.
Formidable Batting Line Up- With the likes of Rahul, Gayle, Mayank, Karun, Maxwell, etc., I don’t think they need to worry about how their batting goes.
Descent Depth in the team- Punjab this year has plenty of backup options in batting and all-round aspect.
‘Are Punjab The New RCB?’ – If we take a proper look at Punjab they are like the old RCB when Gayle was around, formidable Batting line up but no trophies.
Bowling concerns- With Ashwin gone they do not have a top-class spin bowler but Murugan Ashwin can deceive the batsmen sometimes. Except for Shami, there are no good Indian bowlers for Punjab to rely on and out of the overseas players I see Chris Jordan who isn’t at its peak and I see young Cottrell who will keep on saluting.
Outcome– There will be a toss between Rajasthan and Punjab for the last place
Kolkata Knight Riders
Eoin Morgan has been phenomenal after the 2015 world cup both as a captain and as a batsman. I recommend DK to step down as captain and let Morgan lead KKR this year. Morgan hasn’t had a phenomenal IPL in particular but a lot has changed with him since he last played in India. I think he can lower the pressure on the shoulders of Russell which we saw last year in the death overs where everyone was relying on Russell to finish off the match. KKR definitely made the right choice.
Last year KKR struggled a lot with bowling, they did not have any good bowlers both Indian and overseas. They depended heavily on their spin trio Narine, Chawla, and Kuldeep they finally let go of Piyush. Pat Cummins is a great addition to the squad not only is he descent at death overs but he opens up the bowling attack as good as he finishes it. His economy in the T20 format is 6.88 which is great for a bowler in this modern era.
Good Indian Core – With the likes of shubman gill, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Rahul Tripathi, DK, Shivam Mavi, and Kuldeep they have a very strong Indian core to depend on.
‘Death over specialists?’ – With the addition of Eoin Morgan, I think what they did last year in the death overs with Russell can be done this year with more fireworks since Morgan knows how to get runs going when he wants to.
Spin to Win – Even though Narine has not been doing well in the IPL I still believe he can still have an economy under 5 and keep the opponents quite for 4 out of the 20 overs, If Kuldeep Yadav regains his 2018 form then it will be a huge plus for KKR.
‘Are Indian Bowlers Extinct?‘ – KKR knew that they have problems in their bowling department yet they opted to go all-in for Pat Cummins no doubt he is a good player but they could’ve opted to get at least one or two good young Indian bowlers.
Captain- As I said earlier Morgan is perfect to be KKR’s Captain with last year a lot of miscommunication in the dugout messed up their season somewhat and you don’t want that to happen this season. To be honest, DK is a good captain but I would choose Morgan over DK as a captain any day.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Virat Kohli- Probably the best batsmen currently in all the three formats, Virat Kohli has always performed for RCB having a formidable side every year they fail to provide results. If Virat Kohli can repeat his 2016 performance then RCB will be one of the favourites to top the league.
Ab De Villiers– Mr 360 is probably the best thing that has happened for rcb how many times have we seen him win matches where there was no hope, ab knows when to go all in and when to stop. Ab had a descent season last year but did not match his previous standards.
AB – Kohli Duo – All through these years we have probably seen the best duo in cricket we have Kohli the aggressor and ab the cool and composed player if these two can build good partnership in the middle overs then things could get difficult for the opposition.
A good Indian bowling attack – Rcb’s bowling attack is lined with the young and pacy Navdeep Saini along with Umesh yadav and Mohammad Siraj and also the leg spinner Chahal.
Backup – RCB does not have a lot of backup in their squad if either Ab, Finch, or Kohli get injured then there is no quality replacement for them.
Too many dishes on the table – When you have a variety of delicious dishes on the table and you end up mixing them all which takes away all their taste, similarly RCB have too many options in the overseas department and no one is quite sure who will make it and who will not.
Outcome – RCB will give a fight for the 4th spot but will end 5th this season
Kagiso Rabada – The south african pace bowler has impressed a lot of people with his bowling skills and he rightly deserves all the praise. Although there is a serious doubt if he will play this season’s ipl due to his groin injury but if he does play then DC will wreck havok on their opposition.
Marcus Stoinis- I am surprised myself to pick him as a star player it is solely based on his performance in BBL where he was the highest run scorer and his highest score was 143. Along with the indian batting that they have stoinis can provide some serious fireworks towards the end.
Formidable Indian Core – From batting to bowling DC have the best Indian core this season with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw,Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant along with the addition of Rahane from RR, Ashwin in the spin department can provide a lot of experience and Mishra as well.
Momentum From Last Year – DC were formidable last year tying with Chennai and Mumbai at 18 points, this they might win the IPL since the momentum is on their side.
Indian Bowler – With Ishant Sharma most likely to miss this year’s ipl DC have the economy of 8 harshal Patel and out of form Mohit Sharma they really lack a good Indian bowler and if Rabada also misses the IPL then DC will have to fight really hard for that 4th spot.
Outcome – DC will comfortably take the 4th spot atleast
David Warner – The Aussie is back as captain for SRH and it is probably the right decision which SRH has made. Warner is very dangerous along with his opening partner Bairstow once he gets going then there is no stopping him.
Rashid Khan – In the past two years Rashid Khan has evolved into an all-rounder contributing with his bat as well if Rashid Khan still has that bowling ability in him then there is no doubt that SRH will be quite comfortable in the middle overs of the game.
A solid top 7 – With Warner and Bairstow opening the innings is in itself a great threat. The line-up will likely continue with Kane Williamson at 3 Vijay Shankar at 4 Manish Pandey at 5 Nabi and Rashid at 6 and 7 respectively. This represents a solid first 7 for SRH.
Solid Indian Bowling Unit – SRH probably has the best Indian bowling with Bhuvi, Sid Kaul, Basil Thampi, T Natarajan.
Out of form Shankar and Pandey – SRH do have a good top 3 but all depends on Shankar and Pandey to control the middle overs if required, Pandey last season was effective only in the ending stage of the IPL whereas Shankar was always in the mood to hit out or get out. If both Pandey and Shankar play their part then SRH will have no worries.
Outcome – SRH will give a fight for the top place but will eventually settle for 3rd.
Chennai Super Kings
Ms. Dhoni – The captain of CSK is probably their main man, he is good not only with the bat but also with his captaincy and making on-spot decisions during the game. Although concerns are revolving around Dhoni because he has not played since the world cup in 2019 whether that will affect his game, that only time will tell.
Lungi Ngidi – The South African bowler will be key for CSK in the death overs since bravo has detoriated in his abilities in providing those good slower balls during the end. He can also pick up wickets and has a good pace.
A well-experienced squad – Like last year CSK is the oldest team average age-wise to be playing in this IPL.
Good Chemistry – Most of the squad members of CSK know each other for a long time which helps during the game with respect to the coordination between the players.
I can’t find any cons
The only thing that can stop CSK from qualifying is not to play the IPL at all
Hardik Pandya – The powerhouse of MI is their main man this season and he has been playing well at the domestic level where he is scoring sixes for fun and is truly the best death over batsmen of this year’s IPL.
Bumrah – The death over specialist is another of MI’s star player this season there is no doubt he is going to do well this season because he always has and his death over bowling will be the greatest asset for MI
The ‘DEATH OVER SPECIALISTS’ – MI have death over specialists both in batting and bowling department.
Experienced and Well Settled Squad – MI has got nothing to change in their squad because I think they are perfectly balanced and well maintained.
What can I say, nothing
Outcome – Eventhough I think they’ll top the league table but highly unlikely to win the IPL.
Who I think will win is DELHI CAPITALS
